Foster Home Needed! Melly is living in a kennel and needs a foster home - won't you consider sharing your home with her for a while? fostering information

Melly
Melly is 7 yrs, loves people and interacts with them very well, rides well in the care, is friendly but pushy with other dogs. She is confident and composed. She pulls on the lead, is quite strong and athletic, and would make a great companion who wants a strong-minded dog.

Males:

Erek
Erek is about 7 years old, was originally adopted from rescue and just returned due to the death of his adopter. He is fine with people but needs time to get to know strangers as he may initially bark at them. Small dogs and cats he is fine with in the house but he gets intimidated by bigger dogs and tend to bark at them. He spends his days in the house and in the backyard playing. Erek and his companion, Fergus the cat, play in the house. He goes in the backyard multiple times and plays. He does not play fetch but likes to play keep the ball away from you! He is very loving, loyal and is a protector of the home and sometimes he barks at dogs which he sees outside the window. He would be best in a home with people who are loving, patient and understanding as he makes the transition to a new home.....and a home with a cat would probably be fine.

Shiloh of Sparks
Shiloh is 5 yrs old and was an owner surrender from Sparks, Nevada (now if foster care in the East Bay). He has been in the same home since he was 8 weeks old. He was the apple of his mom's eye, and has been a perfect house dog. The owner's life took some turns and his mom could no longer manage to watch both him and a new baby, so Shiloh is looking for a new home. He has been very much loved and well cared for all of his life. He is a very tall, long legged boy and weighs 94 lbs. He is in excellent health. Shiloh loves to play ball, is a happy, outgoing dog, likes people and is fine to meet other dogs. His mom used to board him at a doggie day care place when she left on vacations, and he was fine with others dogs there. He is great on walks and on busy walking trails. He offers no problems toward other dogs while on walks. He would, however, prefer to be an only dog as that is how he has grown up. He has tons of personality and can play fetch all day long. He has excellent house manners and sleeps quietly at night. No children under 10 yrs old. His only bad habit is that he will greet anyone by jumping up and licking them on the face! He would be ideal for an adult home, or with older children and for someone who wants a walking partner. He also must have a home that also likes to play ball! (He also comes with all of his own toys and bed, etc). He is a nice blend between calm and playful, and he will keep you entertained all day.

Teddy Martinez
Teddy has been in our program for about 3 weeks and he appears to be younger than we thought. We think he is about 18-24 mos old. Teddy lived with a female mix breed dog and was abandoned by his family and left in the backyard when they left their home. Teddy is an extremely loving dog toward people, he has a very soft/gentle mouth when taking treats. He will kiss you all day long of you let him! He is crate trained and good in the house. Teddy is OK with cats and other dogs. He would be fine with an active, playful female dog. His foster home says he is great on a leash while on walks and is good when out in public. Teddy is a bit "clingy" and would do best with someone who is home much of the time, or someone who wants to take a dog to work with them. Teddy wins the hearts of the every vet staff and everyone who comes in contact with him. He is great to handle and in excellent health. Teddy has very good hip x-rays! Teddy's biggest need is someone to exercise him, and who does not leave him alone for long periods. He weighs about 85 lbs. contact dezmurray@comcast.net . Please have an appication submitted.

Uno
Uno is a class Black and Tan male, who is about 18 months old. He was probably an outdoor ranch dog as he is comfortable and well-behaved around horses, llamas and sheep.

He is very social and loving both with people and other animals. He gets along well with other dogs. He will bark with excitement when he sees cats, but does not show aggression, just excitement. He likes swimming and laying down in a baby pool in the sun, plays respectfully with his foster sister GSD, and hangs out quietly in his crate in the house.

Uno’s ideal home would be a family with a nice dog to be a playmate. Uno is untrained in the home, but he is learning to relax inside. If he were to be an indoor dog, he would need constant supervision and training until he learned how to behave. If Uno is offered a ranch or farm-type life, he would do best with other animals as he is extremely social and wants companionship.

If he is going to be left home alone, he will need to be in his crate or in a secured yard/kennel because he will go looking for companionship from other animals if he gets lonely.

Vin Diesel
Hi, my name is Vin Diesel. I am a 5 year old, black and tan, big boy with big paws, and an even bigger heart, and I love to give kisses. I think I am a lap dog, and love extensive belly rubs. People, both small and big, are a joy in my life. I think they feel the same way when they meet me. My human foster brothers, 6 and 10 years old are crazy about me. I like other dogs, usually even small dogs, and might even like cats. My foster mom thinks I am the sweetest dog she had so far, and she has had some sweet ones. I am so eager to do what ever you want, but need some training to understand the commands. And I have to get rid of my elbow marks that show how much I was left alone in the past. As I have had some hardships in my life that were beyond my control, my foster mom wants a family for me with kids 6 years and up and/or another dog, simply dog-devoted people who will spend time with me, train me and exercise me and will be with me for the rest of my life. So if my foster mom seems to be picky, please don't take it personally, it's because she wants only the best for me.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT DOG DESCRIPTIONS
Please remember that the descriptions of dogs have been written by GSRNC volunteers and are usually based only upon our observation of the dog since the time it was rescued. While we try to provide dog descriptions that are fair and accurate, the nature of our work involves contact with dogs whose background and history are unknown to us. GSRNC cannot warrant or guarantee any dog's future behavior. For example, if we say that a rescue dog gets along with children, cats, or other dogs, this statement is usually based upon the fact that one of our volunteers has observed the dog interacting with his or her own children or pets. While this information may be helpful, we cannot be certain of how a dog will do with the children or pets in your home. If you are considering adopting, we encourage you to come to one of our Adoption Days and meet our rescue dogs. Ultimately, only you can decide whether one of our dogs is right for you.
