Females:

Pumpkin (There are of course special requirements for puppy adopters.)

Pumpkin is a vivacious 3 month old German Shepherd puppy who exudes personality. She is affectionate, happy, and mischievous (as any self-respecting pup should be). As a matter of fact, she loves to be hugged as much as anything. She can hug you, ie, literally put her paws on your shoulders, face you, and hug for 10-20 minutes at a time. She interacts confidently with people and adult dogs. Pumpkin is well on her way to being housebroken with only an occasional mistake on her way out the door. She is crate trained and sleeps in her crate though the night without crying. Pumpkin's foster family says she is the easiest puppy that they have ever taken in. She is very smart and is picking up instructions quickly.

Pumpkin has a congenital medical condition called Megaesophagus which requires special feeding, and that her food and water intake be controlled. Pumpkin's condition is on the "good" end of the spectrum and we expect that with the right home she will grow and thrive. Because she requires extra feedings, Pumpkin should go to a home where her people are not away too many hours each day.

Pumpkin is living on the Peninsula with her foster mom and dad and her big brother Samson. Pumpkin is a sweet girl who needs a special home.

Males:

Martin
Martin: 14 mos old red, sable male. We are just getting to know him. So far, he is easy to handle, very playful with female dogs. (Unknown with males at this time) Rides well in a car, appears to be in very good health. He is a well bred male, who should go to someone who has had GSDs before, but overall he has been very nice to handle. We will post a new bio as we get to know him.

Martin is a level 2 dog and is in Walnut Creek.

Tab
Tab is about 1 yr old. The name Tab is German and translates to " a radiant and brilliant person" or a confidant dog that exudes beauty. He is about 85 lbs, and has a lovely, solid, temperament. He is confidant, outgoing, happy, and is good around other dogs. He has met the foster home cat, with interest but no aggression at all. Tab loves to play with other dogs, but he is a bit pushy in his play with the girl dogs. We have not let him out with male dogs. Tab is equally friendly toward men as to women. He is easy to walk in public settings, and walks quietly on a Gentle Leader head harness. He loves affection from his handler and he likes being bathed and rubbed! He is still strong in his play style with people (he jumps up when excited) so he would be best with children over 8 yrs old. He would also be best with someone who has had dogs before simply because of his strength. Tab is crate trained and rides well in a car. He appears to have only basic training.

Tab is a level 2 dog and is in a foster home in Walnut Creek.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT DOG DESCRIPTIONS
Please remember that the descriptions of dogs have been written by GSRNC volunteers and are usually based only upon our observation of the dog since the time it was rescued. While we try to provide dog descriptions that are fair and accurate, the nature of our work involves contact with dogs whose background and history are unknown to us. GSRNC cannot warrant or guarantee any dog's future behavior. For example, if we say that a rescue dog gets along with children, cats, or other dogs, this statement is usually based upon the fact that one of our volunteers has observed the dog interacting with his or her own children or pets. While this information may be helpful, we cannot be certain of how a dog will do with the children or pets in your home. If you are considering adopting, we encourage you to come to one of our Adoption Days and meet our rescue dogs. Ultimately, only you can decide whether one of our dogs is right for you.
