We are successful every time we place a German Shepherd
Dog in a permanent, loving home. Here are some of these dogs' stories.
Amandi - ADOPTED!
Amandi is an 18-24 month old beautiful sable female. She was used for breeding and then dumped at a shelter when her former owners were done with her. She spent three weeks at a professional trainer and now knows Sit, Down, and Stay. She has very polite manners and loves to be with people. She is currently living with a foster home who says she is good with kids, their infant, and strangers coming and going. She has high prey drive so no small animals or small dogs. Also she does not like female dogs of any size, she prefers to be friends with large-medium size male dogs instead. Her trainer, also a GSD breeder, says she is a very good working lines type dog and would be a dream dog for experienced owners, she is a very easy dog to be around. Amandi has a very stable, confident temperament and is willing to please her handler. She loves to ride in the car or truck. She has moderate energy, is very food motivated and is also ball motivated. Amandi would love to be in an active home, and/or one that does competitive obedience, Schuzhund or the like. |
|
Gorgeous Gunner - ADOPTED!
Gunner is 12 mos old, imported from Germany by someone who fell in love with working dog lines. They decided that they did not have the time to devote to large dogs so they surrendered him to the shelter. The shelter called us immediately, as he is a very large, young male who would do best with someone with GSD experience. He is of German and Romanian working lines, but he is not high enough in his drive to be a "working dog". Instead, he is a calm, pet type of boy, who takes treat gently. He is crate trained, unknown if he is housebroken. He has only basic obedience training, but is a delight. He weighs about 85 lbs., is very large boned, has a strong face and is very muscular. He has a fabulous temperament, and has been good on public walking trails. He was raised with another working dog male and was fine with other dogs at the shelter. Although he is reasonably calm for a "working lines" dog, he is still a puppy! We are still getting to know him, as he is new to our program. He is confidant, outgoing, happy, and corrects easily. NO CATS, and most likely no small animals. He is in Walnut Creek, in foster care. This is a superb, stable dog for someone who loves and understands these working dog type of dogs. |
|
Mason - ADOPTED!
Mason is a big, beautiful, black and dark red German boy. He is about 3 years old. We're still getting to know Mason, but we know he is lower-energy and a bit reserved but still affectionate. His size might fool you into thinking he is a good watch dog and protector, but all we've seen from this boy is gentleness. |
|
Royce - ADOPTED!
Royce is a handsomely distinguished Black and Tan male approx. eight years old. He was originally adopted three years ago but was returned to Rescue because his adopter couldn’t find the time to spend with him any longer.
Royce is a very well-mannered gentleman around both people and other dogs. He has the perfect balance of calmness and confidence but doesn’t have an arrogant bone in his body. However, being a true German shepherd, Royce has a tendency to become a bit animated towards cats so he should go to a home without cats or small critters.
Royce loves to go on walks and is wonderful on a leash. We believe he is housebroken but would need a refresher since he has been kenneled. The perfect home for this wonderful dog would be a couple (retired or working) or a single person looking for a devoted companion to spend time with. |
|
Brena - ADOPTED!
Brena is a 1-2 yr old female (closer to 1). She is a stocky, heavy-boned style of dog. Brena is outgoing, confidant, active, smart and appears to be housebroken. She is black and tan, but on the darker side and has a standard double coat. Her foster home takes her on walks on busy, public trails and she is very good with all people and dogs that pass her. She plays with her kennel mate and has a good play style. This girl is easily excited by play with other dogs, and engages in rough style of doggie play. She would do best with a strong/confidant, playful male dog or as an only dog. Brena would do best with someone who will continue to train her in obedience and give her lots of exercise. She would be best with someone who has had a GSD before (a bit too energetic for a first time owner), and someone who will exercise her regularly. She does not dig, nor jump fences, nor is she destructive when outside. She has striking eyes and face, and will blossom into a great adult with guidance. She engages people with affection and lots of eye contact and begs you to love her. |
|
Lukas - ADOPTED!
Lukas is a wonderful 2-3 year old sable male German Shepherd. He seems to like all people. He likes other dogs but gets excited when he sees one but settles down after walking side by side awhile. It is unknown how he is with cats. Lukas has a good temperament but can be is a little jumpy around unexpected noises since he wasn't exposed to new things much in his prior home. For that reason a quieter type home might be better. The structure of obedience will go a long way to building his confidence. Although he has lived with children
in one of his foster homes, since he can be jumpy, children 12 and older would be best. Lukas would love a family that involves him in their life. He will make them very proud to be his owners. |
|
Aries - ADOPTED!
Aries is a strikingly handsome 1 year old sable male. He was found as a stray tied under a railroad car in the Salinas area. He is still a little underweight but is now eating well. Aries is housebroken, crate trained, and rides well crated in the car. He has moderate energy. He does not appear to have a high prey drive, and is friendly with both male and female dogs.
Aries has a very curious, unassuming personality. He is very soft, eager to learn, and anxious to please, and walks calmly on leash. He would love a home where he isn't left alone for long hours of the day, so he can make up for his past neglect, or which has a compatible dog companion if his owners have to work. Aries is a diamond in the rough and his new owners will be very lucky the day he enters their lives. Aries is being fostered in the South Bay area. |
|
Sheila Ste C. - ADOPTED!
Sheila Ste C is a darling 11 month old female German Shepherd puppy. She seems to have no issues, in fact, for an 11 month old, she is adream dog. She is good with other dogs, she settles calmly in the house, she walks well on a leash, she knows sit. She has normal puppy energy so needs regular exercise. She has the appearance of a doggy athlete and loves to go jogging with her fosterers. She is so willing to please she seems like she would be able to be trained to live with cats etc. She iscrate trained and fine in a crate when she knows people are around. She may have a tendency to get noisy if left in the crate when everyoneleaves but it seems a puppy tendency. Being a puppy she needs owners whowill complete her puppy education and won't be leaving her alone all daylong. This is one special girl who will only be adopted to the best home. Sheila is being fostered in the South Bay. |
|
Dovey - ADOPTED!
Dovey is a light tan and black beauty. She is 4 or 5 years old, but her foster family argues she acts much younger; if Dovey didn't have a slightly gray muzzle, they would say she is still a puppy.
Dovey has excellent house manners. (She stays off the furniture, but she loves snuggling in bed with her foster parents!) She is completely house trained and loves her crate. She is extremely affectionate and would love to be an active participant in her family's goings-on. Dovey walks nicely on leash with a halti or gentle leader. Dovey has oodles of energy and loves to play ball endlessly. She also loves playing with hose water and in pond water.
Dovey would do best as an only dog; however, she plays nicely with others as long as they are not in her face. Dovey has been known to "play" with fish and turtles too… She will chase cats if they run.
Dovey will bond deeply with her family. She is very protective and is a dependable alarm barker. |
|
Vincent - ADOPTED!
Vincent is a young, fun loving, happy predominantly Black and Tan male approx. 18 months old. Found as a stray in the Stockton area, Vincent was never reclaimed by his owner so not much is known about him. However, he is bouncy and full of energy and will need an owner who can and will provide him with Exercise, Discipline, and Affection (in this order) and who can and will provide rules, boundaries, and limitations.
Vincent is quite vocal when he sees his other buddies (Valentino or Trapper) getting more attention than he. However, he is not a nuisance barker. Vincent loves to go on walks but is still learning not to pull on a leash. He has shown to be overly interested in other dogs and cats but has not shown any negative reaction or behaviors towards them.
Because he was a stray, we have to assume that Vincent is not housebroken but he has been OK residing in the kennel at the vet’s office so he might be comfortable in a crate for short periods of time. Also, Vincent might need to be taught some house manners and etiquette in his new home.
Vincent would make a wonderful companion for a couple, working or retired, or a family with older children. |
|
Simon G - ADOPTED!
Simon G is a strikingly handsome Black and Tan male approx. 12 – 18 months old. Found as a stray in the Stockton area, it is obvious that Simon has had no training and lacks manners. However, he responds extremely well to a confident, assertive person. He will push his limits with his handler in the beginning but will defer to a person who can and will provide him with rules, boundaries, and limitations.
Simon is a quick learner and has learned to heel in a flat choke chain without a lot of verbal or physical correction. He loves to go on walks and can walk for an hour without any problem. However, Simon’s evaluator believes he just loves being with his person.
Because he was a stray we have to assume that he is not housebroken and he’s getting used to riding in a car. He has shown some reactivity towards male dogs but might be OK with some females. However, for now he might do best as an only dog but his new owner should be committed to taking him to obedience training to help with his socialization skills.
Simon’s perfect companion would be an active person who loves to run, jog, or hike but one that can and will provide him with exercise, discipline, and affection (in that order). Simon would not do well with a passive person, or with someone who only wants to shower him with affection, or families with small or young children. And because he has shown a little too much interest in cats, he would not do well in an environment with cats or small critters. |
|
Agnes - ADOPTED!
Agnes is a sweet, approx. seven year old Black and Tan beauty. Found as a stray in the Stockton area, she was never reclaimed by her owner.
Although she is an older dog, Agnes is very alert to her surroundings. However, it appears that Agnes has had very little training but she loves to go on walks and is learning to heel.
Agnes can get a bit feisty (barky) at other dogs, especially other females, but is learning that this is unacceptable behavior. She most likely wouldn’t be good with cats as she gets very animated when she sees ground squirrels.
She rides well in a car but we don’t know if she is housebroken although she keeps her kennel pretty clean so she might be very easy to housebreak. She is also comfortable in a crate so crating her while housebreaking her would be recommended. |
|
Lena Monterey - ADOPTED!
Lena Monterey is a 4 1/2 year old female GSD. We will post more about her as we get to know her better. |
|
Kepler - ADOPTED!
Kepler is a dear boy of 4 months found as a stray with a broken foot...which has now healed. He is a Tricolor, short coat at 20 pounds. He has moderate energy for a puppy but is still full of puppyish pranks, enough to be a handful, not enough to drive you crazy, just enough to make you fall in love with him according to his fosterer. Kepler is crate trained and housebroken, good in the car, with adults and dogs. Cats unknown. |
 |
Rudolph Valentino - ADOPTED!
Rudolph Valentino is a submissively sweet, gorgeous young Red and Black male approx. two years old. He was found as a stray in the Stockton area so not much is known about him.
Valentino needs an owner who is committed to providing calm, assertive leadership and would not do well with owners who only want to shower a dog with affection. Valentino needs an owner who can and will provide him with Exercise, Discipline, and Affection (in this order) and who can and will provide rules, boundaries, and limitations.
Valentino can become quite vocal when he sees his other buddies (Vincent or Trapper) getting more attention than he. However, he is not a nuisance barker. He loves to go on walks and heels nicely on the right side. He has shown moderate interest in other dogs and cats but has not shown any negative reaction or behaviors towards them.
Because he was a stray, we have to assume that Valentino is not housebroken but he has been OK residing in the kennel at the vet’s office so he might be comfortable in a crate for short periods of time. Also, Valentino might need to be taught some house manners and etiquette in his new home.
Valentino would probably do best in a quiet, structured home preferably with adults only or a home with older kids. |
|
Astric - ADOPTED!
Astric is a beautiful 6 yr old female, had to be surrendered because wife died and husband travels a lot. She is social with adults, likes other dogs, especially in off leash areas, lives with 2 cats, playful, crate trained. She is nervous around small children, so no children under 12 yrs. |
|
Arturo - ADOPTED!
Arturo is 12-14 mos old. He is fun, happy, outgoing, confidant, very intelligent and still an active puppy! Arturo was a stray at the shelter, and was very thin and in poor condition. He has been in foster care for about 1 mo., and now his coat shines and he is gaining much needed weight. His hip x-rays are good. "Turo" loves to play ball and is always ready for a run or play time! He is crate trained (sleeps quietly all night), and pretty well housebroken (still a pup that needs watchfulness). He does not jump fences, nor is he destructive. He appears to be exceptionally good with children he has met, good with all other dogs, and OK with cats. Arturo is NOT a lazy dog, but rather he is an active, young , healthy male that needs a family that will take him for a long run/walk and will put more training in to this boy. He knows basic commands, and is great on walks on public trails. "Turo" could easily do competition obedience, as he has flashy movement and he LOVES to work for a toy or treat reward. He has a generally soft temperament and will work best with an owner that uses "reward" based training methods (rather than correction based training). He gives you great eye contact during training and is sooooooo much fun to train and to handle. |
|
Crusoe - ADOPTED!
Crusoe is an adorable, medium-sized, almost pure Black male approx. two years old. He was found as a stray in the Lathrop area and even though he had a collar on, he was never reclaimed.
Crusoe’s temperament is similar to a lamb’s as he is very sweet, kind, and gentle. He is non-reactive to dogs either on leash or in the kennel. He loves to go on walks and is learning to heel. Crusoe is a very happy dog who loves getting lots of attention.
The perfect home for Crusoe would be a family or a couple who can provide him with rules, boundaries, and limitations, and exercise, discipline, and affection (in that order). In return, Crusoe would be a fantastic family companion.
Crusoe appears to have been an outside only dog as he has a tendency to mark his surroundings so his new owner will need to have patience and provide the necessary guidance to housebreak him. Crate training is also highly recommended. Although he is very good with other dogs, we don’t know his reaction towards cats or small critters. |
|
Samantha G - ADOPTED!
Samantha G is a very pretty, Black and Tan female approx. a year old. Found as a stray in the Stockton area, she was never reclaimed although she was spayed before coming into Rescue.
Samantha appears to have had very little training and socialization so her new owners must be committed in providing her with calm, assertive leadership. Obedience training should also be a priority to help Samantha develop her socialization skills. She can be reactive to some dogs, especially other females and dogs that bark at her, but she is learning that this is unacceptable behavior.
Samantha is very people oriented and loves affection. However, her new owners must not give into this behavior. Her new owners must commit to establishing rules, boundaries, and limitations along with providing Exercise, Discipline, and then Affection (in this order).
Samantha rides well in a car but we don’t know if she is housebroken although she keeps her kennel pretty clean so she might be very easy to housebreak. She is also comfortable in a crate so crating her while housebreaking her would be recommended.
Samantha’s perfect companion would be an active, committed couple or single person with some experience and knowledge of German Shepherds. However, families with young or small children would not be a good match for this young, energetic girl. Also, Samantha has shown to be too intensely interested in cats so she should not go to a home with cats or small critters. |
|
Rain Beau - ADOPTED!
Beau is well loved because of his gentle, happy nature. He is good with children, adults and other dogs, although, being a German Shepherd, he will chase cats!
Beau is well mannered, having graduated from basic obedience class, and is an outstanding companion dog: loyal, affectionate, and easy to live with. He is housebroken, sits for treats which he takes with a very soft mouth and does not chew on shoes or furniture!
He likes to run around the yard and bark at dogs that are walking past, but once near them, he is friendly and happy to make new friends. He rides well in the car.
He is 7 years old and generally in good health, except for two issues that are now under control with medication. Three years ago he had one epileptic seizure, but since being on meds he has not had another. Several months ago he was diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia, but that too is under control with low dose medication and he remains an active, happy boy!
Beau’s owner died this past year, and I have been taking care of him until a good new home is found. We are in Redwood City. |
|
Lano - ADOPTED!
Lano is a masculine looking black and brown male German Shepherd who is about 2 years old and 65 pounds, who needs to gain about 10 more pounds. In his former life he was a backyard dog who was not exposed to anything new. He has a basically stable temperament, but is shy and nervous in new surroundings. It takes him a day or two to come out of his shell when he moves to a new home, but then he is gentle and soft mannered and likes to follow you around wherever you go. Lano gets worried when left alone and will try to jump fences if left outside and open doors if left inside. He is progressing with his crate-training and is improving daily. Lano is house trained and loves to sleep quietly through the night next to his two legged foster brother. He gets along well with the resident male and female German Shepherds in his foster home. He does not react to the cats he meets when out on a walk but did chase the indoor cats in a different foster home. He is a smart boy who learns quickly. He has a soft temperament and a verbal no is often enough to stop unwanted behavior. Lano would do best as a homebody, in a quiet, perhaps rural home without young children, where someone is home most of the time. In such a home it will be hard to tell that he had such a neglected start to his life. He would enjoy a compatible female dog to play with. Obedience training using positive reinforcement yet setting firm boundaries will go a long way to building his confidence. Lano is being fostered in the South Bay and can be seen by appointment. |
|
Akaysha - ADOPTED!
Akaysha is a big, beautiful 4 year old AKC reg. bicolor female. She is very spunky and full of energy! She needs an active home, and someone to continue her obedience that she is currently learning. She is good with other dogs, and housebroken, crate trained. She was dropped off at the shelter by her owner when she could not get pregnant. She needs an experienced owner. |
|
Nightstar - ADOPTED!
Nightstar is a handsome 4 year old male of moderate size. He is crate trained, house broken, walks easily on a leash, and has great manners in the house. He has a strict diet due to “Irritable Bowel Syndrome” but loves to have treats and lay at your feet, relaxing all day.
Nightstar is a true “rescue” dog. Before coming into our program, Nightstar had never learned to trust people and had gone through his lonely life depending only on himself. When he first arrived at his foster home he would not come inside for the first couple of days, but little by little he warmed up to his fosterer and to the idea that people are not a bad thing. He began to come inside and saw that people will love him if he gives them a chance. He now loves his foster home and is very bonded to his foster mother.
The ideal home for Nightstar will be a single person or a couple that have a “low activity” home. This means a quiet home with no kids, few visitors, and people that are not looking for a dog to go everywhere with them. He would be a great companion at the house and for walks, but would not enjoy loud or busy places. Once Nightstar moved in to his new home, he would have to learn to trust the new people and learn that this place as his new home. Once that happens, he would be a very loving and loyal dog that is very thankful for the patience and understanding you gave him, while he was getting used to his new home. |
|
Queeny - ADOPTED!
Queeny is a very young 7 yr old female. She is in excellent health for her age. Queeny is active enough to play ball, go on long walks, and yet will lay by your feet at night. She is housebroken, easy to walk, and clearly has been well cared for by her previous owner. She is very affectionate, loves to lay by your feet, and is very submissive to people. She was a stray at the shelter. This is such a nice dog, it is hard to imagine that someone took such good care of her and yet did not come look for her. She is fine to meet other dogs, but might be best as an only dog. She is OK with cats. She is being fostered in Alameda. |
|
Aldo - ADOPTED!
Aldo is a 12-18 month old male, mostly Black, 85 pounds with moderate energy. He is good with adults and female dogs. |
|
Fremont Nikita - ADOPTED!
Fremont Nikita is a one year old beauty. She is a well-adjusted, happy, active and high-energy girl. She received her Canine Good Citizen when she was 6 months old, and she has grown up learning how to be an Agility Dog; she would love to continue working in agility.
Nikita is good with people of all ages, she has wonderful house manners, she is very good in obedience, and she knows lots of tricks. She has an extreme prey drive so she should not live with other animals.
Nikita was much loved in her first home; it was a very hard decision to give this wonderful dog up, but a necessary one for the family. We would all love for Nikita to find an active family that will include her in all of their family goings-on. |
|
Quick Draw - Transferred to a professional to do scent work
QD (Quick Draw) is a sweet female who LOVES the ball & fetch, is very good in the crate & potties on command in the backyard. She is still working on housetraining and is a HUGE counter surfer. |
|
Howser - ADOPTED!
Howser is a very loving sweet boy. He is a large GSD who came from the kennel about 15 lbs. under weight. He is putting weight back on, but is still skinny. He loves to play with medium-large dogs, especially females. He is pushy when the other dog doesn’t want to play, trying to make them interact with him. He is very athletic and loves to run and play fetch. He is housebroken, crate trained, and knows the “sit” and “down” commands. He gets very excited around people, to the point where he will jump up in the air, although if he is going to jump on you and you tell him to “sit” instead, he will eagerly comply. He is good with small children, but they will need to be used to a large dog moving around them. He can stay at home or in a car alone in a crate without a problem, but prefers to tag along for errands even if he just waits in the car. He will bark at other dogs in excitement while on leash, so controlled meetings are best. Also, he will bark to let you know when people or dogs are near the yard fence, but will come back and stop barking when called. All of his barking has to do with being excited and seeking interaction. |
|
Trapper - ADOPTED!
Trapper was caught in a shelter trap (hence his name) in the parking lot of a hospital in south Stockton is a handsome, predominantly Black and Tan male approx. two years old.
Trapper appears to have had limited exposure to the outside world but this hasn’t dampened his outlook on life or people. As a true GSD, Trapper still exhibits a strong sense of trust, loyalty, and an eagerness to please with people but is still a bit uncomfortable when anyone approaches him from behind. And he is slowly learning that leashes and collars aren’t scary things. For these reasons, obedience training should be a priority.
Trapper loves to go on walks and surprisingly heels nicely on a leash. He has shown inquisitive interest in other dogs and cats but has not shown any negative reaction or behaviors towards them. |
|
Rinney - ADOPTED!
Rinney is a German shepherd dog mix who is about two years old. He was found chained to a tree in the backyard of a house from which the family had moved. Apparently several days passed before the neighbors realized that the persistent barking from the yard meant help was needed. We do not know what his previous life had been like, but it could not have been pleasant.
When rescued, Rinney was shy, timid, submissive, frightened, clearly traumatized, and yet a soft and gentle soul. He had a deeply ingrained distrust of people. His current foster family has been working hard with him for the past 5 months to build trust, and has made slow but encouraging progress. But with the increase in his confidence level has come a side effect that requires he move to a new home. He gets along wonderfully with the resident female golden retriever but has begun to aggressively challenge the two resident male GSDs. |
|
Shep O'Bragg - ADOPTED!
Shep O¹Bragg is a handsome 8 yr old male black and silver longcoat American pure-bred German Shepherd with a distinguished career. He was trained for Search and Rescue and participated in that in his younger days. He subsequently was a breeder. When he got too old for breeding and his owners moved to Oregon, they dumped Shep at the Mendocino County Shelter. Some very caring local rescuers took up Shep¹s cause, and eventually brought him to GSRNC.
Shep is a true gentleman and very affectionate. He loves to go for walks (is very good on the lead, doesn¹t pull), rides exceptionally well in the car (and likes it), loves toys of all sorts, especially the kind that can be tossed so that he can chase them, he retrieves very well and returns the object to his play partner, he has excellent house manners, and is just a joy to be around. He can be very playful when interacting with his people, but can also settle down nicely. He is a healthy boy with a little arthritis in his hind quarters, a condition that is currently being dealt-with by daily doses of glucosmine and chondroitin. |
|
Waylon - ADOPTED!
Waylon is a 3-4 year old male Sable plush, 90 pounds with low energy. He is crate & housetrained, has great house manners, is good in the car, with adults, kids 8-10 & older, and cats & dogs, though he doesn't like some female dogs. Waylon is easy to walk on leash, knows sit and heel and is liveable with a cat and lived with one in his previous home, but I would not leave them alone together. He is really an all around great dog. |
|
Maidu - ADOPTED!
Maidu is a sweet, mellow boy around 4 years old. He is looking for a mellow home with no small kids and would prefer to be the only dog. He seems good with cats, and is easy to walk on a leash. He may be ok with a large female dog. Sadly, Maidu was another unclaimed stray at a local shelter. |
 |
Nikki Beach - ADOPTED!
Nikki Beach is a 2 year old female, mostly Black, short coat, 73 pounds with moderate energy. She is good with adults, kids 8-10 & older, and male dogs. Cats & female dogs unknown. |
 |
Dulce - ADOPTED!
Dulce is a 9-12 mo old female German Shepherd mix with a totally sweet disposition who loves to give and get affection. Dulce considers everyone, both people and dogs, to be potential buddies. Gaining friendship with people is easy -- doggie kisses come easy for Dulce. She is an active dog and a good jogging partner who is learning the etiquette of running and not tripping her partner. She passes dogs without any reactivity. She is quick to learn, and is mastering 10-12 commands in her foster home. She plays well with her foster doggie sister. She also responds well and quickly to mild corrections. Being a puppy, if bored she will create her own entertainment by chewing anything within reach. But she is easily redirected into chewing on her kong or chew toy. Dulce has met children and for her it is a time of exuberant tail wags and doggie kisses in abundance--it is also a time that brings out her tendency to nibble. When meeting dogs from a distance, sh sometimes gets barky, but is fine when meeting new dogs up close. She is getting much better about not barking as her fosterer works with her. Dulce would do best in a home that understands leadership and structure, and enjoys training a smart dog. She also needs a home that will provide lots of exercise. A jogger would be a great companion for Dulce. Dulce is a loving, young and exuberant girl; perfect for someone looking for a devoted buddy. As her name implies, Dulce is about as sweet as they come. |
 |
Crockett - ADOPTED!
Crockett is a 1 year old male B/T medium coat, 66 pounds with moderate energy. He is house and crate trained, good in the car, with adults and dogs. Crocket is a nuisance barker, pulls on the leash and tends to be a roughneck. |
|
Bruno S - ADOPTED!
Hi, my name is Bruno S. I am 6 years old, but look much younger. My foster mom thinks I am the perfect gentleman. I am handsome, polite, and friendly to people and other dogs. I am living with a foster family with two boys (6 and 10) and I just love those kids, especially playing ball together.
I love to play with other friendly dogs. I don't pay much attention to cats when out on walks but I don't know what I'd do if one was in the house with me. I love my crate, long walks, cottage cheese with peanut butter, bringing the kids to school and sleeping next to my special person. I know basic obedience (sit, down, shake), walk nicely on the leash and come when called. I am alert and curious. I can stay at home for up to four hours. I would love to sleep on a couch, but will accept a firm no.
All in all, I am a great dog looking for a family who likes spending time with me. If I am sharing my family with another dog I would love a friendly sister best. Being a sensitive gentleman, I prefer a consistent routine and a quieter type family with kids. I am being fostered on
the Peninsula. |
|
Maverick - ADOPTED!
Maverick is a sweet, affectionate, happy 3.5 yr old German Shepherd who loves to run around and interact with his people. He was issued an extra helping in the personality department. He is good with both men and women, and has been fine with all the dogs he has met. Currently, he is learning all about terriers as his foster parents have two Jack Russells.
His main interest is in playing-- he loves to play tug and catch to exhaustion, likely you first. He has had some training--knows sit, down, and he comes when called, most of the time. He is very anxious to please so will be easy to train, but would benefit from a refresher course in obedience. He is quite athletic. He walks well on a lead and will enthusiastically run by your side for miles. He is house and crate trained.
Maverick would do well in a home with another dog, especially a female. He probably also would be fine as an only dog as long as his people were able to give him lots of attention and exercise. His attitude toward cats is unknown. |
|
Blazer - ADOPTED!
Blazer is a handsome 1 yr old red sable whose owner moved to Hawai'i and left him for his room mate to find a home for him.
Blaze is mellow, affectionate, moderate energy (although he will go into the 'puppy zooms' at unexpected times, walks well on the lead with a bit of pulling, rides well in the car, loves toys and toss and retrieve games, and can settle and mellow out much more than might be expected for a 1 yr old. He has been mellowing out in his fosterer's car at work, with 3 walks during the work day. He has not eaten a seat belt yet.
He has a high prey drive and fair hunting skills, so no cats. He gets along with other dogs, both male and female. He is quite a wonderful dog and will make some catless family a remarkable family addition. He will be a great companion. |

Aubrey - ADOPTED!
Aubrey is a 1 year old female GSD. |
|
Reha - ADOPTED!
Reha is a 1 to 2 year old medium sized black and tan with classic Shepherd features. She has a gentle and inquisitive nature and is a quick learner with an eagerness to please. Reha is currently enrolled in a once-a-week obedience class. For a treat she will heel, sit, come and ignore most distractions. She shows interest in playing with other dogs with no sign of aggression. Reha can become scared, and barky, when approached by strangers. Part of her obedience training includes confidence building and meeting strangers. Reha is currently slightly underweight; has a beautiful face and coat along with an abundant tail that just touches the ground. Reha will do best in a quiet, gentle home where time can be devoted to obedience training. Reha has a strong sense of belonging and prefers to stay close to her Fosters at all times and will whimper, but not bark, when they stray too far from her. |
|
Justice - ADOPTED!
Justice is about 4-5 years old. He's a big boy, about 120+ lbs., with high energy. Justice is friendly with people and other dogs (doesn't like small dogs too much though). |
|
Gigolo - ADOPTED!
Hi, my name is Gigolo, aka Denzel. My paperwork says I'm 5 years old, but don't you believe it; I’m still a big pup at heart.
I have been living with a trainer for the last month. I had a problem with separation anxiety, but now I am comfortable staying home alone. I am crate trained, and I can hang out on my bed without destroying anything. THAT is a big accomplishment for me; my foster mom has done a great job turning me into a well-adjusted dog.
I do like dogs, but I can feel intimidated by them. I really like cats; I would call them my best friends. Sheep are the weirdest things I've ever met; I'd just rather ignore them.
I need a human who will continue training with me and my foster mom-trainer. I still have a lot to learn. I learn best with lots of praise and a gentle touch.
If you think you could be the right person for me, my trainer-mom and I would love to meet you! I would love to have a family and home all my own. |
|
Gemini - ADOPTED!
Gemini is a 3 month old male. |
|
Tundra - ADOPTED!
Tundra is a very sweet 2 year old female. She is good with other dogs, has been good with cats, but is afraid of men. She needs a home with women only or a very patient man who is willing to earn her trust. She is easy to walk on leash, and seems housebroken. She has been wonderful with my 9 and 11 year old daughters. |
|
Rusty - ADOPTED!
Rusty is 18 mos old, a red sable color, and is housebroken and crate trained. He is good with all dogs, and his last owner took him to dog parks without problems. He is OK with dog savvy cats, but will chase cats that run. Rusty loves to play with other dogs, and would be delighted to have a playful female dog to play with. He is generally quiet and easy to manage. His mother was black and tan, his father was a white GSD.
Rusty (also called Charlie) was surrendered to GSRNC by owner #2 because the resident Pugs and cat did not like having a new, large brother. Rusty had a first owner who owned him from 10 weeks old, but the owner became ill and could not care for him. Rusty/Charlie has been well cared for and is a lovely, easy dog. He is in foster care in the Bay Area. |
|
Diana Spencer - ADOPTED!
Diana Spencer is a happy, funny, goofy girl, but that’s the way teenagers are supposed to be, right? Diana is a really sweet and nice girl; there is not a bad bone in her body, but she is completely untrained, and she has lots and lots of energy. Diana needs a person she can look to for guidance, authority, consistency and exercise.
Diana would prefer to be an only dog, and she does not do well with small critters. Diana is potty trained and rides well in the car. She is outgoing with every human she meets, but she is too exuberant for children. Diana would do best in a home where humans were around most of the day rather than be gone 8 or more hours a day. |
|
Nya - ADOPTED!
Hi, my name is Nya, and I’m between 2 and 3 years old. I’m a svelte 65 pounds, I’m beautiful and I’m a sweetheart. I would like someone to call my own; in return, I promise I am potty trained, I love my crate, I have great house manners and I love car rides. You won’t meet a more affectionate dog, really! I love belly rubs and quiet times with my human, which includes sleeping on my human’s lap and giving kisses; that’s my quiet side. But I have a wild side also; I’m up for anything. Play with toys? You betcha! Run up a hill? Yep! Go for a few mile hike? Oh yeah! I could even help you train for a marathon! Ok, that’s stretching it a bit, but I do like to be active.
I don’t really like other dogs; I can be rude when I see them. I don’t like cats even more; I really enjoy chasing small critters in a sick way. What can I say? I’ve got a high prey drive. And if you don’t like to vacuum, that’s ok because I have a love/hate relationship with vacuums; that’s a LOT of fun!
I think I know everything there is to know, but my human says I’d benefit from something called obedience; if I can find a strong leader to train me, I’d probably enjoy obedience. I like working for food, and I like having rules and structure. (My human told me to say that.)
You might think I’m a bit conflicted, but I’m really not. I’m a very intelligent girl who very much wants to be an active participant in my family. My human needs to be smarter than me to help me be the best dog in the world. And I will be. |
|
Shortcake - ADOPTED!
Shortcake is a 1 year old female, Sable girl with a short coat, weighing 40 pounds with moderate energy. She was hit by a car and had to fend for herself. Shortcake is thin but her bone is healing though she has a little gimp and must have her activities restricted as the bone continues to heal. She is a sweet dog, good in the car, on leash and with adults. |
|
Sandy Sal - ADOPTED!
Sandy Sal is a vivacious 2 yr old female German Shepherd that was picked up as a stray in Salinas and never claimed. She is a happy, affectionate, exuberant dog who loves to run full tilt, jump up on her people (which is not a good thing), toss balls and toys up in the air and catch them, and then come over and sit on your foot and lean on you for attention. She does very well with other dogs, best with males, but she does like to play roughly. Wow does she ever like to play!!!! She know some basic commands if you can ever get her attention long enough for her to realize that you are asking her to do something. She responds quickly and well when you call her.
For now it appears that Sandy Sal would be ideal for someone who wants a hiking or jogging partner. She would love to live with a male buddy, as long as he liked rough-and-tumble play. She can spend time quietly alone, and does not appear to be a nuisance barker. She will alarm bark. Sandy would benefit from some serious obedience training, but she is very close even now. She should go to a home with some headstrong dog experience. |
|
Zodiac - ADOPTED!
Zodiac is an active, 3 month old male puppy, very dark coated, who gets along well with people and other dogs. He likes to go for walks, rides well in the car, and likes to snuggle. He needs socialization with people as he apparently was an outside dog for his early life.
Zodiac is smart, learns quickly, and is eager to please. |

|
Cagney - ADOPTED!
Cagney is a 2 yr old male, in very good health, easy to walk on a leash, good with all dogs, good with cats. He is quiet outside, does not dig, chew nor bark, and is generally a mellow fellow. Cagney has a splash of another breed in his background, but he is mostly GSD. He has beautiful GSD eyes, but is softer in nature than many GSDs. This is why we brought him into our program. He is in a foster home and loves to play with female dogs. He is crate trained and like to play with soft squeaky toys. Cagney was probably on outdoor dog, and his only real need is to be watched when loose in the house for the first few days until he knows the routine and how to get outside. We have not heard him alarm bark, so if this is a priority, he may not be the dog for you. This is a great dog for someone who wants an easy, sweet, low maintenance dog. He weighs 75 lbs. Cagney is in the Bay Area. |
|
Hemlock - ADOPTED!
Hemi” is a beautiful 18 month old boy, weighing about 65lbs. He is well-mannered, potty trained, happy and quiet. He enjoys playing with toys, walks nicely on leash, likes other dogs. Probably would not do well with cats, although he doesn’t have a strong prey-drive |
|
Lina - ADOPTED!
Lina is 10 years old. She is once again with us because her owner recently died. Lina is a nice girl who is looking for a family who will give her a nice home until the end. Lina is nice to all people, has nice house manners, is potty and crate trained, loves to go for rides in the car, and she loves kitties that love dogs. Lina is slow in mobility, but that doesn’t stop her from chasing a running critter! She LOVES that. While she may get along with another dog, she does not want to be bothered by them.
Lina has spinal and back problems, which slow her down, but she is clearly a happy dog. She enjoys going for short walks, and she loves to roll onto her back to scratch it for minutes at a time.
We are looking for someone special who will give Lina a comfortable life for as long as she has. If you are able to help Lina, please call our 24 hour phone number and ask to speak with Dez or JJ. |
|
Garrick - ADOPTED!
Garrick wants a family to call his own. He was dumped at the side of a country road, where he waited for over 8 hours for his family to return. Luckily, a nice family picked him up and took him home. Then they called German Shepherd Rescue to find him a new home.
Garrick is a mature adult at maybe 6 years old. He has the personality of a Golden Retriever, he can lounge like a Greyhound, and he has the ball drive of a German Shepherd; he is a well-rounded boy. Garrick would do very well living with and/or hanging out with other dogs. (We don’t know how he is with cats, but we haven’t seen a strong prey-drive.) He is great with people, and he has nice house manners. Garrick enjoys going on walks, but he does pull on leash. He will be a great companion.
Please consider giving Garrick a home he can call his own. He certainly deserves the best. |
|
Duke of the Rose - ADOPTED!
Duke of the Rose is a 1.5-year-old black and tan German Shepherd who was rescued from the Sonoma County Shelter, where Ed K. had taken a personal interest in making sure he found a good home. Duke is a bit anxious, and is looking for people who will provide him a good home, but also lots of attention. In return, Duke will be a loyal companion and a devoted family member.
Duke will sleep quietly by your side all day and night. He will alarm bark at appropriate times, but not without cause. He is great on the leash, sits at corners. He doesn't bark at others when walking. He is good with some dogs when introduced, but plays a little roughly and sometimes needs to be reminded how to play. He will bond very strongly to his people, so probably would do best as an only dog so that he could have the undivided attention of his people. Duke is a loving, sweet, devoted dog and wants to be at you side all day (a little needy). He is good in a crate, but doesn¹t necessarily want to go in. Duke doesn¹t like car rides or cats. He will jump on people at times (out of excitement) but responds to a verbal correction. Duke is house-trained and great in the house but will counter surf or will help with the kitchen clean-up if given the opportunity. Duke would do best with someone who works from home or is at home most of the time. He loves a good movie or book by the fire. Duke is a gentleman and loves to give nose kisses and gentle licks (not too much of a licker). His fosterer has 3 kids (8 and older) and a 4-year-old lab. Duke loves the kids and does well with them, but periodically needs time outs from the lab when he gets too excited. Duke needs a companion, someone who can give him gentle instruction and time to grow out of the teenage years (get over fool¹s hill as one sage person observed of all teenagers). Duke is and will be a great dog. |
|
Donny - ADOPTED!
Donny is an 8-12 mos old long coat male, good with cats, all dogs, and kids over 12. Would be best with another dog at home. |
|
Holly Berry - ADOPTED!
Holly Berry is a petite, pretty young female who was found wandering around a homeless camp right before Christmas. She had recently had a litter of puppies, but there were no puppies found with her. Holly is very sweet and somewhat shy but warms up quickly with treats. She's around 18 months old, still a little on the thin side at 50 pounds, and has the classic black and tan coat.
Holly wants to be with her person constantly, and will worry when she's separated, no real surprise if she belonged to a homeless person. While she doesn't get destructive, she does try to go over the fence until she settles in. She'll need to be left in a secure place if left alone. Holly is housebroken but is a counter-surfer and will eat any food left out, typical of a dog who had to get her meals wherever she could. She's agile and can jump onto countertops with very little effort.
Holly is a smart girl, and learns quickly. She likes to play with other friendly dogs, and while she will chase cats if they run, she stops with a verbal correction and leaves them alone if they don't move fast. With some training and a secure home, she'll be a lovely addition to the family. She needs a home with someone home most of the time. |
|
Yeti - ADOPTED!
Yet is a handsome, 2 year old, biscuit colored boy. He needs an active home life; where the adults work from home and/or there is normally an adult or older teenager at the house most of the time. He gets along very well with both male and female dogs.
Yeti gets very anxious when his family leaves and he loves to get into any drawer, kitchen cupboards, where food may be lurking.
Yeti needs a covered enclosed dog run, where he can be put inside when his owner is away. Yeti has a track record of climbing fences and is an escape artist. Yeti doesn't like being boarded. When he returns home from being in a kennel, his behavior becomes really erratic. Yeti may have had a bad experience at previous boarding facilities.
Yeti will "take over" the house if you let him; he needs a strong experienced owner who will show him his place in the pack, and give him training.
Yeti is always bursting with energy; he would greatly benefit from an owner who would take him on long runs and walks, Adequate daily exercise and obedience training is a must to keep this boy calm. He loves people and is fun to have around, He greets people with kisses and love to be hugged. Yeti is not good with cats.
Yeti has been okay with other dogs at dog parks, but with his track record of running away, its recommended that he stay on leash at all times when away from the house. |

Ulysses - ADOPTED!
Ulysses is a stunningly handsome purebred male German Shepherd 1-2 years old, black and tan, medium coat, weighing in at approx. 95 pounds. He has moderate energy, with both good ball and food drive, and he is a dominant male. He is housebroken, crate trained, and rides well crated in the car. He is good with adults and dogs, cats and children unknown. He reacts with reserved politeness to friendly strangers.
Ulysses is a very confident dog and will do best with confident leadership and consistent training. He is a very quick study who now obeys hand-signal commands as well as verbal commands. He currently knows “sit” and “down”, and does not pull on the leash. He will do best in a home where his people want a ‘strong-minded’ companion that they will enjoy training and working with. He will thrive in a rigorous training environment, and be a dog anyone should be proud of. He will be a loyal and proud partner, a definite ‘presence’, and, in many ways, the dog of a lifetime. |
 |
Buddy L - ADOPTED!
Buddy L is 10 mos old. His background information: was a "toy" for 2 young children. Parents had no interest in him. Buddy was taken to the vet by the children for overall poor condition and the parents decided that it was easier to leave him at the shelter and get a new dog than to pay for his vet care. GSRNC took Buddy L from the shelter and he is generously being fostered by Michael Bell (dog trainer) in Concord. Buddy is simply on good nutrition and vitamins and he received an applause by our vet as to his amazing improvement. He is now ready for a home.
Buddy is housebroken, crate trained, and is a very affectionate/happy/loving boy. He is very much a puppy and will require obedience training, as he is strong on a leash and gets excited easily. Buddy lives with other dogs, a child and is thriving with structure and good care by his foster parents. He is OK with cats, but he does show strong interest in them so he would need to be with a dog savvy cat and will need watchfulness with them for now. Buddy weighs about 68 lbs. at this time and he should be about 80 to 85 lbs when full grown.
Buddy is very playful when outside, but quiets down when inside. He does not want to be left outside alone, but is fine in a crate for a few hours during the day when his family is gone. We think Buddy may have a touch of Nordic breed in his background. Buddy's biggest need is making up for lost time in training that he did not receive as a young pup, but he tries sooooo hard to please and he is making leaps and bounds in the right direction now. He does not jump fences, chews only his own chew toys, is quiet inside, loves walks and playing ball. He is located in the Bay Area. |
|
Jillian - ADOPTED!
Jillian is a B/T Long coat female, approx. 55 pounds with moderate energy. She is good with kids 8-10 & older. Cats unknown. Jillian takes a friendly interest in friendly strangers. Jillian is a petite 4-5 year old with a sparkling personality. She is very friendly with people, good with dogs, and a pleasure to be around. She loves to go for walks, rides well in the car, and will explore a pet store with the best of them. She will go into a crate, but prefers to be outside of it lying on the rug. She knows her basic commands, but seems to consider them suggestions at the moment. |
 |
Copperella - ADOPTED!
Freja is a 1-2 year old female. |
|
Freja - ADOPTED!
Freja is an 8 year old female. |
|
Piqua - ADOPTED!
Piqua is a mighty-mite weighing in at only 48 lbs. She is a 2 year old, dark black & tan short coat with fine bones but otherwise classic confirmation. She loves everyone she meets, takes food gently, and rides well in a vehicle. Piqua has moderate to high energy, and lots of ball drive, focus and work ethic. This little girl needs an experienced handler who is looking to do SAR, obedience, rally, agility, etc. and/or has a lot of hours to put into working & exercising a dog. She is house & crate trained, but may chew if left unsupervised. She alarm barks and knows "down", "come", "sit" and "sit stay". She is very playful and energetic with the other male dogs she's met, and would probably do well with another male dog to play with. Unknown how she is with female dogs or cats. |
|
Sister Bertrille - ADOPTED!
Sister Bertrille is a darling 1-2 year old girldog who is great with cats. Like her namesake from the Flying Nun, she is incredibly cute, petite, sweet & sometimes sassy, and her halfway-up ears bounce adorably when she trots.
Berti weighs a delicate 60 lbs. She is the perfect lady. She is housebroken and very well mannered inside (except for the occasional perusal of the counter tops when no one is looking). She sleeps quietly inside at night; in fact, Berti prefers to spend most of her time inside with her people.
She is very low energy, and would love to curl up in bed or on the couch with you and watch movies. She also rides very politely in a vehicle. She is very people submissive, does not jump up on people, and loves to lick, but only in the most ladylike manner.
Berti would probably prefer to be an only dog, that way she's sure to get all the attention; however, she would do okay with another calm mature dog. She is not playful with other dogs, and will leave if they try to play. And if they don't respect her space, she will let them know that ladies don't like to be pushed.
Berti responds well to verbal corrections, and would need little training to adapt to most households. She will probably chase a cat if it runs, but she is fine with dog savvy cats. In her foster home, she loves to "groom" and play with a willing cat, but stays away from the other one who is not interested.
Berti would love to be part of a family where there are plenty of people to give her cuddles and pets, and pamper her. |
|
Licorice - ADOPTED!
Licorice is an outgoing, high-octane young lady around 18 months old and compact at around 65 pounds, all wrapped up in a jet black coat. She is affectionate, extremely bright, very high energy, and loves to go-go-go!
This little dynamo gets along with most other dogs she's met so far, and will bark nonstop at dogs she doesn't know until she has a chance to meet them. She loves to play hard & fast with other playful dogs if they can keep up with her. She's housebroken, fairly obedient, and settles down pretty well in the house as long as she gets enough exercise. She has no interest in cats.
Licorice is a happy, charming girl looking for a very active home with another very active dog to play with. Her tail wags nonstop and her excitement comes out in squeaky barks. She'll need someone dedicated to spending considerable time with her every day giving her mental and physical exercise, or she'll find her own entertainment. |
|
Picasso - ADOPTED!
A 2.5 year old black and tan male with a cute right ear. Good with other dogs but can be overwhelmed if they are too rambunctious. Appears to be good with cats. A little needy and wants to be with people as much as possible. Moderate energy. |
|
Bengie Molina - ADOPTED!
Bengie Molina is a young, approx. two years old, Black and Red, spunky, athletic, all-round fun dog that is eager to work and needs a job!
Bengie has had some obedience training and knows a few commands. He knows sit, down, down-stay, recall, and heel but is a bit rusty. Because he is learning new skills, Bengie will require a calm, assertive, committed owner who will continue his obedience training and who can and will establish and maintain rules, boundaries, and limitations. Also, he is one dog that has responded well to Cesar Millan’s philosophy of Exercise, Discipline, and Affection (in that order). Too much affection and not enough exercise and discipline can create behavioral problems in any dog and Bengie is no exception.
Although Bengie can be reactive towards some dogs, if introduced properly and under experienced supervision he could possibly live with a companion dog as he got along with his kennel buddies, Truxel and Beatrice, but he most likely do best as an only dog. However, being an only dog should not limit his socialization, which is another reason obedience training should be a high priority on his new owner’s list.
Found as a stray Bengie is most likely not housebroken. However, he is OK in a crate and when he travels it is highly recommended that he should be kept in a crate as he can exhibit destructive chewing (he chewed some seatbelt straps while unsupervised). Due to his spunky, athletic nature, Bengie would most likely not do well with cats, small critters, small or young children. |
|
Porthos - ADOPTED!
Porthos, and his brother Athos, were dumped at the shelter by their breeder with orders that they be euthanized. These littermates had been sold together as pups, and when they reached adolescence they became more than their owners could handle, so they were returned to the breeder. Shelter staff contacted us because they couldn’t bring themselves to euthanize these two adorable youngsters.
Athos & Porthos need to be adopted to separate homes to ensure they each have the chance to reach their full potential and develop unique personalities. Porthos is more outgoing than his brother, and had begun to dominate him a bit, but neither have alpha personalities.
Porthos is 18 months old, and weighs around 75 lbs. Though he has had no training and did not know what “sit” meant, he learns quickly, and does not pull on the leash during walks. Obedience classes now would be a wise investment by his new owners, and would help ensure he matures into a well mannered adult.
While Porthos has not yet been observed in a foster home, since we know Athos & Porthos were raised together, we are assuming Porthos has the same house manners that his brother has shown in his foster home. Such as: housebroken, well mannered inside, stays off furniture, no inappropriate chewing, and no stealing food from the counters. Unknown how he is with cats. He takes treats with a soft mouth, and responds immediately to verbal corrections.
Porthos is not overly licky and does not jump up on people, but he loves people and greets everyone with a wag of the tail and a twinkle in the eye. He enjoys car rides and is a very polite passenger.
This charming youngster is looking for a family to make his forever home. He is a blank slate, and with the proper commitment to raising and training a GSD teenager, he will make a wonderful family dog.

Blacktop - ADOPTED!
Hi! My name is Blacktop; I’m a fun-loving pup of 8 months. I LOVE to play with my toys, and I wag my tail all day long.
I should go to school to learn how to be an even better dog. Since I’m not real big and I like to play, my foster mom thinks I’d be good at dog sports. If it involved a ball, that would be even better. I know how to sit lickity split, I know how to take treats very nicely, and I think I have pretty good house manners. I only jump up on people when I’m super excited, but I’m not a nuisance. I like people, I like other hang-out type dogs, and I am great in the car. I like belly rubs and I know when it’s the right time to give kisses.
Because my last family didn’t know how to train me on leash, I don’t know what’s expected of me. Sometimes I get scared of being corrected, and sometimes I just lay down. But when I’m really happy, I like carrying the leash in my mouth.
I would like to live with an active family that has had German Shedders before, ‘cuz remember, I am a typical puppy!

Logan the Second - ADOPTED!
Logan is about 7 yrs old, but appears much younger! He is a soft natured, easy-going boy that appears to be perfectly trained. He sits, downs, and shakes hands on command. He walks easily on busy public walking trails, is indifferent to bikes, skateboards, joggers, and other dogs. He is fine in a crate and will sleep easily on a bed in your family room!
Logan would be fine with another older dog, but does not want puppies nor young/bouncy dogs jumping on him. He very, very much enjoys playing ball, brings it right back to you and drops it at your feet. He has a soft, gentle mouth. Our vet says he has arthritis in 2 vertebrae, but should not affect his life much at all. He is fine on walks, but might not be good with lots of stairs. He might be OK with cats as long as he is supervised closely at first.
This is a dog that would be fabulous in a home that wants an easy dog that requires very little additional training and likes low/moderate exercise and some ball play.

|
Sharloch - ADOPTED!
Sharloch just turned 5 yrs old in Jan of 2008. She is from German imported lines, with a tattoo in her ear that tells us her age and her breeder. We know the breeder well, but he in not in business any longer. She is housebroken, crate trained, easy to walk, and good with just about everyone.
Overall: a sweet and easy dog. Sharloch would be best with someone who wants a gentle dog that is happy to be your companion and is happy to go on walks and lay by your feet. She has a "plate" in her right rear leg from (most likely) a car accident. We don't know the dates this happened (our guess is about 3 yrs ago). But our vet says that she should have a normal life and would be fine in a home that doesn't not require that she jump/leap/run hard.
It is completely healed and does not appear to be
any problem.
Sharloch is an ideal dog for someone who wants a dog that is no trouble, requires little/no real training, and needs mild/moderate exercise. We don't know about cats. At this time, she is in foster care in the Bay Area and goes on 3 mile walks each day with her foster dad.

|
Schmitty - ADOPTED!
Schmitty is a cute & cuddly bob-tailed boy about 3 years old, and a nice compact size at around 60 lbs. He has moderate energy outside and low energy inside. He is a well mannered house dog, housebroken, knows how to use a dog door, sleeps quietly inside at night, and generally likes to be inside and around his people as much as possible.
He has been trained in basic obedience, walks very well on leash, and loves to go for rides in the car. He enjoys the company of other dogs, so long as they aren't bossy or over-bearing; he would love a play buddy of a non-dominant nature. Schmitty has extreme prey drive, so no cats or other small critters, even if they are in a cage.
Schmitty is very people submissive and gentle. He does not jump up. He will alert bark at the door, but sits politely when you invite someone in. However, Schmitty does not like some loud noises, and is especially uncomfortable around bouncing basketballs, so he needs a home with no budding sports stars.
His stumpy little tail wags extra fast when he is happy, and he loves to roll over and get belly rubs.
|
|
Maserati - ADOPTED!
Maserati is another adorable 9 month old, black and tan youngster, who was given up with his litter-brother Ferrari when their owner lost her home. He's a little smaller than his brother, and will probably be around 80 pounds as an adult.
Maserati (Max) is an affectionate, sweet boy, who seems to be very willing to do what he's asked. He has also spent most of his life in a kennel with his brother, and is less inclined to bark at other dogs. He's got a lot of puppy energy, but seems to settle down fairly well. Unknown how he is with cats.
He also has no manners or training and will need a home willing to put some training into him. He'll be a rewarding and devoted companion with just a little more work.

Kiara Lee - ADOPTED!
Kiara Lee is a very lively and affectionate young lady, around 18 months old, wearing a pretty black & tan coat. Kiara is on the smaller size, and still somewhat thin at 55 pounds. She's agile and quick and loves to be in motion.
Kiara loves people of all sizes, tummy rubs, and greets everyone with exhuberant affection. She loves to play with other dogs, and like most youngsters, can get very wound up. She's also just a bit mouthy when playing, so might not do well in a home with smaller children. Kiara loves to chase cats if they run, but has much less interest in them when they're not moving.
She's housebroken and will actually settle down in the house if she's had enough exercise. She'll need adequate exercise and some definite obedience training and she'll be a fun, outgoing companion.

Bashful - ADOPTED!
Bashful is a 2 year old, dark black & tan female. She smelled like axel grease and was filthy and terrible underweight when she was rescued. Obviously, she had been on her own for some time. Although very thin, she has nice confirmation and is otherwise healthy.
She is very shy initially, but if you sit down with her for just a minute and show her some kindness, she becomes your best friend and will follow you anywhere. She has a quiet nature, and seems to be mellow and low energy. She walks very well on leash. She gets grumbly at other dogs, so we think she would very much like to be an only dog. Unknown how she is with cats. This sweet, shy girl needs someone to give her lots of love, good quality food and socializing. And maybe a nice warm bath, too. Inside, there is a beautiful lady waiting to shine for her new owners.

Astrix - ADOPTED!
Astrix (call name Trixie) was surrendered to the Humane Society Silicon Valley by her mom, who had lost her job, lost her home, and could not keep her any longer. A truly heart-wrenching story. Trixie is a 3 yr old, gorgeous long-coat German Shepherd who has all the qualities most adopters
are looking for. She is house trained, walks well on the lead (on a pinch-she pulls a bit on other collars), has lived with a cat, other dogs, a guinea pig, and people.
She was described as a 100% inside dog who will let you know when she needs to go outside and relieve herself. She is great with other dogs, although she does like to initiate play and so her doggie buddies need to be into that, is super with people, rides well in the car, loves to go on walks, likes to play ball but doesn¹t give it up real well (she actually will toss it to you at times), and has a sense of humor. She is very healthy and agile, but could stand to loose 10-15 lbs.
Trixie would fit well into most homes, but she is a bit needy, to the point that her new family should take precautions to not let this turn into separation anxiety. She would love to have a person to interact with most of the time, and she will bond strongly to her person. She can live with another dog, or be an only dog. She can learn to live with a cat but it may take a little work. She is a happy dog that will brighten any home she occupies.

Ceasar Boy - ADOPTED!
Ceasar is a beautiful 10mo. old sable male. He has been an outside dog his entire life but instanly decided he loved being an inside dog. He had one accident in the house his first day, but has done great since then.
He is experiencing a lot of firsts right now, like riding in the car, crate training, taking treats gently, walking on the leash, and meeting cats! He has done great with everything, but is very excited when meeting the cats. He has only tried to play with them, but is really too much for a cat right now. He could be trained to be better with them. He is not obsessed with them. He even went to a parade, with lots of loud sounds, like bands playing music and Harley motorcycles. At first he was nervous, but by the end of the parade he was laying at my feet and watching the parade.
He will need someone to continue to socialize him, and train him, and in turn he will be a great pet. He has been around children his entire life and is great with them, but he will jump on them when he gets excited, and because he is not so gentle when taking treats, he should not go to a home with small children. Currently he is in a foster home with 9 and 11yo children, and does fine.

Lyra - ADOPTED!
Lyra is a five month old female who was handed in to the Shelter with her mom and three brothers. ( Ryko, Zulu and Rylon). All the pups were under socialized.
Lyra is doing very well, she is mostly house broken. Crate trained. Rides very well in the car (both in and out of the Crate). Waits very patently at the door to come in. Walks well on the leash. Understands Sit, Down and Stay to a distance of twenty feet. Lyra is also enjoying the agility tunnel! And can catch a ball!
Lyra is living with her foster mom's four dogs and behaves very appropriately. However she is reactive to strange dogs until properly introduced. (this needs ongoing work) Lyra is also pushy and confident and a little head strong.
Lyra needs a family that understands the concept of leadership and who will be serious about teaching Lyra obedience. This is a great puppy who is capable of going the distance in Obedience Competition. She is fun to train and ready to have a go at anything. If her foster mom didn't have four dogs she would be keeping her!

Lollie - ADOPTED!

|
Mulan - ADOPTED!
Mulan was dumped at a shelter with an order to be euthanized when her breeding career ended. But now, thanks to friends at the shelter, she has been given a second chance. Mulan is a lovely lady looking for her forever home. She is 6 years old, and a classic sized beauty at 75 lbs.
Mulan has impeccable house manners. She is calm and well mannered inside, never getting on the furniture or stealing food off counters. She is housebroken, and loves to sleep near you on a soft blanket or dog bed. She enjoys stuffed doggie toys but otherwise does not chew inappropriately. She takes treats politely and has a very soft mouth.
Mulan loves to go for rides in the car; she loads easily and rides politely. She knows her basic obedience, and was trained in German. Mulan lights up around little ones, and never jumps up on them or gets overly licky.
Mulan needs to be an only dog, because she does not get along with other dogs. She also cannot live with cats or critters. She should not attend dog parks, and her owners must always ensure she is on leash when other dogs are around. On leash she is very well behaved, walks politely, and will ignore dogs that ignore her.
Mulan would love a family to call her own, and would make a lovely starter German Shepherd for the right family.

Ferrari - ADOPTED!
Ferrari is an adorable 9 month old, all-black youngster who was given up with his litter-brother Maserati when their owner lost her home. He is a medium-sized boy that will probably end up around 85 pounds when he's full grown.
Fero is very affectionate and energetic, and a little on the feisty side. He's spent most of his young life in a kennel with his brother, and likes to bark at strange dogs and sound all big and bad. Once up close and personal, he's a lot less ferocious and wants to play like any other typical youngster. He's a friendly and enthusiastic boy with people, and would probably love to chase cats if given the chance.
He doesn't have much in the way of manners or training, so will need someone who can tame the wild child. With a little work, Fero will be a great companion with a happy and outgoing disposition. |
|
Athos - ADOPTED!
Athos, and his brother Porthos, were dumped at the shelter by their breeder with orders that they be euthanized.
Athos is currently in a foster home where he is getting along well with all the other dogs. Athos is not the dominant type, and is happy to be a follower. We do not know how he is with cats. Athos is 18 months old, and weighs around 75 lbs.
He is housebroken and sleeps loose at night. He does like to chew on stuffed toys, and may mistake your slipper for something fun to chew, but otherwise, has not had any inappropriate chewing. Athos has displayed wonderful house manners: he stays off furniture, leaves food on counters alone, and takes treats with a soft mouth. He enjoys car rides and is a very polite passenger.
Though he has no training and did not know what “sit” meant, he learns quickly, and does not pull on the leash. He responds immediately to verbal corrections. He still has bouts of puppy playfulness, but is otherwise calm and well mannered inside. His new owners would do well to invest in his future with some obedience classes, to ensure he stays well mannered into adulthood.
Athos loves people of all ages and sizes and greets everyone with a gentle wag of the tail and a soft, kind eye. He is not the licky type and does not jump up on people. Athos is a gentle and loving boy who is looking for a kind family who will give him a forever home. Just look at that adorable face! Don’t you just want to give him a cuddle? |
|
Zulu - ADOPTED!
Zulu is a sweet lovable male puppy. He is crate trained, sleeps quietly through the night and is well on his way to being house trained. He gets along with our big and small dogs and doesn't react to our cats anymore. He will need training as all puppies do. He is going to be a big boy and a very handsome one. |
|
Gustopher - ADOPTED!
Gustopher is a one year old, mostly black, long-coated male. Gus is great around all people, all dogs and cats. He has nice house manners, potties on command, is crate trained, rides well in the car and has a great outlook on life. This boy definitely needs obedience training, which he’ll think is a big game. He does jump up on people when he is excited. Gustopher enjoys exercise, attention and affection; he would do best as an active participant in his family’s life. He does come with a word of caution however - Gustopher cannot control his licker. Gustopher is being fostered in Pleasanton. |

|
Duncan - ADOPTED!
Duncan is approx. 14 months old. People think he is older due to his size, but he is young at heart. Duncan sometimes forgets how big he is and still wants to do things like crawl on the couch with you, sit in your lap, and things that he did as a puppy. He will quickly get down if told no, and is learning how to wait until he has permission to do things. He is the type of dog that as a puppy was not told “no” very much, so is learning rules as he goes. Due to having little life experience he is learning how to be a good dog and is progressing quickly. He is very affectionate and loving, and really wants to do the right thing, just needs guidance.
Ducan will do best in a house who has experience with large breed dogs and has some knowledge of German Shepherd traits. A family or person that is calm, assertive, and will be patient while he learns what is and is not ok. He will definitely need a minimum of basic obedience classes to learn self control and patience. He sometimes will get very excited and bark, but only once or twice; he is learning that this is not appropriate and has almost stopped doing it. He will sometimes bark at a dog that he is excited to meet, but is not at all dog aggressive or reactive, just boisterous.
Duncan will sleep all night in a crate quietly, he will stay in a kennel for short periods of time, and is housebroken. He has learned how to use a dog door to go out and relieve himself as well as to stretch his legs. During the day he will hang out in a crate if needed for short periods, as long as he has a bone to chew on, and rides in a crate in the car as well, without making any noise. He plays well with a dog his size and has good play manners, although due to his size he can play a little rough. Once the “doggie rules” are set between him and a playmate he is very polite while playing.
He will need lots of time, attention, and exercise. He will do good in a home with another dog after controlled introductions and supervised playtimes to make sure they play well together. A home with children that are used to a large dog would be ok, but small children will get knocked over when he becomes rambunctious. He meets people eagerly and likes both men and women equally. |
|
Dasher - ADOPTED!
Dasher is a 4 yr old male with a tattoo in his ear. This tells us his age and who the breeder is. We are still trying to find out his background if possible, from the breeder. It also appears that he is from German type working lines. Dash is a large boned male who was most likely an outdoor dog. He has been great when out in public, is friendly toward other dogs of all types so far. He also seems to be in excellent health. Dash is easy to walk on a leash, and is crate trained. He is in a foster home and we are working on house manners. Dash has a huge alarm bark/guards his property, and is moderate energy. He is a very compliant dog, loves to play ball and is a confidant, outgoing type of dog. He would be best with someone who has had a GSD before. No cats at this time, but we are still testing him in this area. Dash is fine alone for 8-10 hrs/day. We will update this as we know more about him. His biggest need at this time is housebreaking, which shoud be easy with a dog like this. He is in Walnut Creek in foster care. |
|
Jay Scooby - ADOPTED!
Jay Scooby is an 8 year old, over-weight easy boy who is affectionate and an accomplished escape artist |
|
Merle - ADOPTED!
Merle is a very affectionate, 18-24 mos. old male. He is in good health, loves to run, play ball, or go on long hikes. He does not bark, nor jump fences. This boy would love to be in an active, adult family and can keep up with a runner or hiking partner. Merle is OK to meet other dogs, but his exuberance and high energy tends to offend other dogs so he would be best as an only dog and should not be off leash with other dogs. He is crate trained and can be left alone for 8 hrs/day. Merle goes into his crate easily at night, and does not make a sound until you get up in the morning. He is food and toy motivated, which makes training much easier. The ideal home for Merle is an active family that will spend some time training him, no other dogs, and a family with some dog experience. He is in foster care in the Bay Area. |
|
Lolita - ADOPTED!
Lolita is a compact, 52 pound, long coated female, who is about 1.5 years old. With her high ball drive she seems a natural for agility, competitive obedience and maybe even search and rescue or the like. Even with her drive, she has enough of other traits to seem like she would be good with a novice wanting to get into competitive activities on up and probably enough drive for more experienced people too. Although she lives to work, she is able to settle for hours in the house inside or outside the crate and is also fine for hours traveling around in the car. She gets along well with other dogs and will tune them out on leash or hang with them off leash. She has high prey drive so needs a home without small children or small animals. Lolita is being fostered in the South Bay. |
 |
Fritz - ADOPTED!
Fritz is a handsome, mature male, black & tan, approx 6 yrs old and around 15 lbs overweight at 90 lbs. Fritz was returned to us after having been adopted in 2003 when his owners had to move because their home was foreclosed on. Fritz is a housebroken, well-mannered companion who loves to go along for rides in the car and snooze on the bed.
While he is overweight, it doesn't stop him from going over a 4' fence to go after a cat. He seems to get along with other dogs of both genders, and lived with a Sheltie in his previous home. He will need an experienced owner with strong leadership, as he can become territorial and over-protective. He has had basic obedience, but needs a brush up on his training.
While Fritz now has some gray on his muzzle and a few more pounds, you can still see how handsome he is by his younger pictures! |
|
Diva - ADOPTED!
Meet Diva: Sweet - Calm - Gentle - Ladylike. She's a classic looking beauty that is looking for an easy-going laid back family to pamper her like the Diva she is. At 2 years old and 70 lbs, Diva is a good-sized girl with lovely house manners, and a very soft manner. She takes food gently, she cuddles gently, and she walks gently on a leash. She is not what you'd call energetic, so she is not looking for an active lifestyle. No siree, not this Diva - she likes to lounge around inside with her people, enjoying the comforts of home and hearth. Did we mention she's a Diva?
She is a little shy when meeting new people, but warms up quickly if you are gentle and treat her with kindness. She is learning how enjoyable car rides can be, and will lay calmly & quietly and watch the scenery go by. Diva would love to share your bed, but will settle for her own dog bed. She is housebroken, and sleeps quietly through the night. She likes to be in whatever room you are in.
Once properly introduced, Diva gets along well with other dogs if they do not boss or crowd her. She is not the type that needs a dog companion and is not very playful with other dogs, but would be willing to share her home with one, as long as she still gets plenty of people attention. After all, Divas do love an adoring audience. Unknown how she is with cats. |
|
Comanche - ADOPTED!
A handsome tan with some black 1 year old male. He seems to be good with other dogs and maybe even with cats. He is good with people and is a real people magnet. Moderate energy. |
|
Cascade - ADOPTED!
Cascade is a very sweet and somewhat anxious 5 year old girl who was adopted out and returned when her senior owner was hospitalized suddenly. Cassie is a pretty black & cream, medium-sized girl who was clearly used to produce several litters of puppies. She is a little timid and a worrier, which hasn't been helped by all the recent upsets in her life. She was originally abandoned by her owner when he moved.
She gets along with most male dogs she's met so far, but has become intolerant of other females, not unusual in a mature female GSD. She is tolerant of young puppies, but will try to dominate older puppies over 6 months old, especially females. She can become over-protective and territorial, as she did with her senior owner. She does not want to live alone, and will display separation anxiety if she doesn't have at least another dog to keep her company, although she definitely prefers people. She will need an experienced, no-nonsense owner who understands how to set boundaries, to diffuse anxiety, and prevent separation anxiety from developing.
Cassie needs a patient, calm, low-key atmosphere. She's looking for an easy life with someone home most of the time and at minimum another male dog for company. She loves to find the softest spot in the house to lie down and tries to disappear into the background. She's housebroken and has very nice house manners. She doesn't know much in the way of obedience, and tends to flatten herself down when asked to do something. Cassie can sometimes let her anxiety get the best of her and forget any manners or obedience, and needs calm, firm leadership to calm her down and get her brain working.
NO CATS. She will charge them aggressively. |
|
Marilyn - ADOPTED!
Marilyn is a 9 month old female. |
|
Gabe Kaplan - ADOPTED!
Gabe Kaplan is a 8 year old male. |
|
Waylon - ADOPTED!
Waylon is a 3-4 year old male. |
|
Nell - ADOPTED!
Nell is 4 yrs old, and is a German imported dog. We know the original breeder/importer (now not in business). She was used for producing puppies, as she is from very good lines. Due to divorce, she was left at the shelter by the current owner. Nell is now with GSRNC and looking for a nice home. She is very soft natured toward people, she is OK with other dogs, but she does not want to live with other dogs at this time. She is a bit overwhelmed and needs some stability right now. Nell is crate trained, healthy, beautiful, well proportioned, and appears to be housebroken. She wants to be a house dog. She does not chew , nor dig, nor jump fences. Nell is easy to walk on a leash, loves people, and long walks. She is moderate energy. No cats. We are still getting to know her and will update her bio as we get to know her. Nell weighs about 70 lbs. She is in foster care in the Bay Area. |
|
Starlet - ADOPTED!
Starlet is a 3 year old, lovely female who is fine with dogs and loves people. She's a happy, happy girl. |
|
Beatrice - ADOPTED!
Beatrice is a large boned, beautifully, and solidly built Black and Tan seven year old female. She was an owner surrender to the Stockton shelter after “serving her purpose”, which was producing several litters of puppies. However, this experience hasn’t dampened her outlook on life or people.
Beatrice travels well and enjoys riding in a car and would make a wonderful companion for a couple or single person but could be OK with a family with older children (10-up).
Although she appears to be able to get along with most male dogs, her socialization skills are in dire need of some fine tuning. Instead of going nose-to-nose, Beatrice at times likes to use her paw and can get pushy when meeting new four-legged acquaintances. Because she was kept as an outside dog we have to assume Beatrice is not housebroken, crate trained, and probably lacks any type of house manners. She would not do well with extremely dominant males, other females, cats, or small critters. |
|
Chili - ADOPTED!
Chili s a four year old female that is black & tan short coat, 65 pounds with moderate energy. She is crate trained and housebroken, good in the car, and with adults and dogs. Chili pulls on the leash but knows "sit" and "down". She is an American bred Shepherd.
Chili is not good with cats and may become over protective if her owner does not have strong leadership skills, good with most other dogs. |
|
Shakeera - ADOPTED!
Shakeera is an intelligent, affectionate, very pretty longcoat girl who was given up by her owners to the pound when they had to move. Her owners put a lot of time and love into her, as she is very sweet, well-mannered and obedient. Shakeera was born on 10/20/04, so she is just 3 years old. She's a tall girl, and is quite thin at only 60 pounds, she tends to be a bit of a picky eater. Clearly she's trying to keep her model-thin figure!
This elegant beauty is housebroken, very well-mannered in the house, walks well on a leash, knows Sit, Down and Wait. She sleeps quietly in the bedroom at night and has no destructive habits. She does alarm bark and will tend to carry on a bit, but hushes right up when told. She loves to go for rides in the car.
Shakeera appears to have only a passing interest in cats and mostly ignores them in her foster home. She seems to get along well with other dogs, although she can play a little too rowdy for some dogs' tastes. She also has another very unladylike secret - she LOVES to play in the water and sprinklers are the world's best dog toy!
Shakeera is looking for a moderately-active family to call her own. She's a classy, easy-going lady who would probably fit into most homes, with or without another dog or cats. She is located in the Modesto area. |
|
Maurice - ADOPTED!
Maurice is 9-12 mos old. He was found wandering in Northern California. He has a super "soft" nature, quiet, easy to manage, and is a lovely pup. Maurice appears to be from good American type lines. He floats across the ground when he trots, is not too angulated, and has an easy going temperament. He is a plush coat, almost a long coat. He is fine with cats, ok with all dogs we have introduced him to, crate trained, rides well in the car, and is easy to walk. He is very underweight but has good strong bone structure and should fill out quite a bit more. He is about 65 lbs now. Maurice loves people and will crawl into anybody's lap! He has very little training, but is quick to please. He is in foster care in Walnut Creek. |
|
Princess - ADOPTED!
Princess is a 2 year old female around 70 pounds. She loves attention, running in the yard, playing with her two 80 pound German Shepherd foster brothers and toys! She has also played well with 2 smaller rat terrier dogs. Both families required careful introduction. She has a lot of play energy and can play a little on the rough side when she gets wound up. She will do best with a high energy playmate that can tolerate lots of pestering for extended periods of time.
She will play with you and gives the toy back fairly well although she does like a good game of tug-a-war or catch-me-if-you-can. Princess seems to enjoy being outside, however, she does prefer being with you and she’s very well behaved in the house. She has been left alone outside for 8 hours and been able to entertain herself with toys and monitoring the squirrels, cats, deer, birds, etc. She has high prey drive and is very reactive to quick moving smaller pets and, while it hasn’t been tested, it does appear she will chase them with the intention of catching them. So, NO FREE ACCESS TO CATS and NO DOG PARKS for this little girl.
Princess has had a little training, and she knows sit, ‘no’, a little bit of down and pretty good at ‘come’. She has apparently had very little leash training, but is working to learn to walk using a gentle leader. She takes treats gently. She sleeps inside, in her crate, through the night.
Princess has two personalities. First, she is initially timid in new surroundings and around strange dogs/people. Once she gets comfortable with you, she becomes playful and loves attention. This version of the little girl is fun to have around. However, she has another side and that one attempts to compensate for the timid side by demonstrating reactive barking and challenging behavior. She might exhibit this strong behavior when meeting unfamiliar dogs as well as strangers whether from behind her fenced area or on a walk. She will need a strong, calm, assertive handler as she can be difficult to control when she enters this tantrum style behavior mode.
Princess would make a ideal dog for someone who wants an affectionate companion with good house manners, one that could stay alone outside and be happy for a typical work day and be inside when her people are home, one that is a very impressive and effective alarm barker and will act as if she will defend her property, and one that could be a good energetic companion to another resident dog. She would prefer a home without small children and one without a lot of visitors coming and going. She probably would do best in a somewhat rural environment. Princess will provide a strong sense of security if her people are concerned about unwanted strangers approaching their property. |

Jayko - ADOPTED!
Jayko is a big, handsome, red & black 6 yr old male who was given up to the pound by his owners when they had to move. Jake has the long, lean, American-bred body type and is still a little thin at 80 pounds. He has a very sweet and affectionate disposition and clearly has been a well-loved house-dog all his life.
Jake is housebroken and has impeccable house manners. He walks well on a leash, knows Sit, Down and Wait, and tries very hard to please. He's crate-trained and low energy, and wants nothing more than to have a comfy dogbed in the house near his person and to go for rides in the car. Jake is very attached to his per | |
